In this 4 hour course you will learn the skills necessary to provide somebody with basic first aid care for injuries and sudden illnesses until professional rescuers arrive.

In this 4.5 hour course you will learn how to perform CPR on Adults (persons 8 and older), PLUS you will learn how to operate an AED (automated external defibrillator). Persons in sudden cardiac arrest are often experiencing irregular heart rhythms. An AED analyzes a person’s heart rhythm and prompts a lay rescuer to deliver an electrical shock to restore a normal heartbeat. Today’s units are designed to be fool proof, and will not shock a person unless a shockable heartbeat is present. The units are becoming more and more common in malls, airports, hotels, churches, and any common gathering area.

A ’must have’ class for any young adult intending to watch younger children. CPR for the Healthcare Provider (NEW for 2009!!)


CPR for the Healthcare Professional is the Red Cross equivalent to the American Heart Association’s BCLS in both content and certification length (2 years)Individuals are taught how to provide care to a victim of a breathing emergency using breathing devices including suction devices, oral and nasal airways, resuscitation masks, bag-valve maskresuscitators, and supplemental oxygen. Participants will learn how to: • Describe how to use a resuscitation mask and a bagvalve mask to ventilate a non-breathing person; • Describe the steps required to administer supplemental oxygen; • List precautions to take when using supplemental oxygen; • Demonstrate on a manikin how to use a resuscitation mask and bag-valve mask (BVM) to ventilate a nonbreathing person; • Demonstrate how to prepare the equipment and administer supplemental oxygen to breathing or a nonbreathing person; • Make appropriate decisions about care when given an example of an emergency in which a person is having difficulty breathing; • State the importance of having a suction unit ready for immediate use when providing emergency care; • Describe the technique of suctioning; • Demonstrate the techniques of suctioning

Babysitter Instructor Training


A ’must have’ class for any young adult intending to watch younger children. In this 8 hour course participants will learn how to teach the Red Cross Babysitter program to youths 11-15 years of age. Babysitter training teaches the fundamentals of safe child supervision, including the basics of first aid, how to recognize dangerous situations and age specific types of play behavior. This training is required of anyone who will be watching siblings or other children on most military installations.

CPR for Professional Rescuer Instructor Training - Liberty County


In this Instructor course you will learn how to teach Professional Rescuers vital lifesaving skills. CPR for the Professional Rescuer is an advanced course where individuals are taught how to provide care to a victim of a breathing emergency using breathing devices including suction devices, oral and nasal airways, resuscitation masks, bag-valve maskresuscitators, and supplemental oxygen. Participants will learn how to: • Describe how to use a resuscitation mask and a bagvalve mask to ventilate a non-breathing person; • Describe the steps required to administer supplemental oxygen; • List precautions to take when using supplemental oxygen; • Demonstrate on a manikin how to use a resuscitation mask and bag-valve mask (BVM) to ventilate a nonbreathing person; • Demonstrate how to prepare the equipment and administer supplemental oxygen to breathing or a nonbreathing person; • Make appropriate decisions about care when given an example of an emergency in which a person is having difficulty breathing; • State the importance of having a suction unit ready for immediate use when providing emergency care; • Describe the technique of suctioning; • Demonstrate the techniques of suctioning
